Batik Manufacturing
Sri Lankans have been producing batik for over 400 years, since the time of the Portuguese. Currently, Kandy, Kegalle, Yakkala, Kadawatha, Imbulgoda, Nittambuwa, and Beruwala make up the main centers of the batik industry of Sri Lanka. Due to the increased demand by tourists for batik products, the industry is now undergoing a boom. We are proud to be a part of this process by supplying a range of customized dyes that are needed for the printing of batik materials.
Cottage Industry
Handloom textiles are produced in Sri Lanka as part of a small-scale industry generating employment in many rural areas. Amongst the goods produced are household linens, upholstery materials, curtains, cushion covers, as well as saris and sarongs. Books, notebooks, photograph albums and writing pads are now covered with these materials. handloom woven cotton and silk textiles have vibrant colors and are very popular among the locals as well as tourists. The combination of traditional designs and modern techniques has allowed Sri Lanka to capture the international market for its products.
